Ancestral Medicine Women

Do your work

Years ago in a group session, the Mothers (AMW 2012) were asked what is the most profound thing they could share. A single sentence came back:

“Start taking action on your healing.”

How many people do you know when skirting the change that is needed in their life exclaim “I know, I know”, but they fail to act?

When we take action, our knowledge is tested and new choices are discovered that were previously hidden from our awareness when we go for the things our healing calls for. Sometimes the choices discovered are formidable choices. So, action forces the integration of what we know. Newly discovered choices test us on whether we really want to complete this healing journey to become more or different to the way we are.

It’s like at school or university, you feel “yep I know this”, but when forced to write a coherent essay, well, everything can fall apart. This actioning is the testing of your knowledge. It tests on how your knowledge can robustly work and hang together. For many, when making a transition/change in life, most people know what they have to do. But they fall apart as soon as they attempt acting on what they know. It’s easy to say I know, but the acting on it can be the hardest thing we ever do.

Action is the begetting of wisdom. Knowing alone will fail us.

“Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.”

Audio for these was planned only for transcription, but some have asked for the audio. It’s raw and not staged. We do it when compelled, in a car, a plane, by the beach.
